Ikat painting continued!
You must complete your ikat painting on paper
before you move onto canvas
-Below are some examples of a couple styles that are a little "looser" patterns
-Also think about experimenting with more colors--don't use every color in the rainbow
--Think about warm colors cool colors and earth tones to pair together.
Ikat Day one products! |
you do not have to work in a pattern. You can work around the canvas a still balance out your piece. |

Painting in the IKAT style
Ikat is a type of fabric that utilizes specific methods of weaving (the word means "to tie" or "to bind" in Indonesian) and a dipping dying method similar to that of tie-dying. Because its creation was so time consuming, it was often a status symbol of wealth and power.
You will choose 3 Colors to create your ikat painting!!
We will practice with watercolor first in our sketchbook.
On day two we will work on canvas.
